79% of people we supported in 2018/19 became more physically active by at least 30 minutes, with the majority of these referred onto other pathways such as weight loss.
In general as a population we are moving less , especially the older we get – which is linked to rising obesity rates. Nearly a third of all adults in the UK are now classified as obese and 20% of year 6 children – with prevalence rates doubling in the most deprived areas compared to least deprived.
Most people don’t understand the impact of being physically inactive on their overall health and wellbeing. Insufficient physical activity is a key risk factor for noncommunicable diseases such as CVD, cancers and diabetes being responsible for one in six UK adult deaths (equal to smoking) and is estimated to cost the NHS £0.9 billion annually.

Around 1 in 3 (34%) of men and 1 in 2 (42%) of women are not active enough to positively impact their health and evidence tells us that this position increases the older we get and the more health problems we start to experience.
Our health coaching teams understand what it takes to get people moving. Our clients range from people who are classified as sedentary who don’t know where to start on their get active journey through to people who due to health problems have lost their confidence to be active.
In the last year 79% of clients who joined our integrated health services increased their physical activity levels by at least 30 minutes from baseline, with the majority of these also setting and achieving weight loss goals too

In 2019 nearly two thirds of the people (62%) we have seen in our coach-led services have lost 5% of their body weight or more - another added value benefit of an integrated people centred healthy lifestyle services.
